The romantic Gaistal in Leutasch, nestled between the Wetterstein and Karwendel mountains, is a paradise for hikers and nature lovers. Well-marked trails lead you through untouched alpine landscapes, lush meadows, and clear mountain streams. Especially worthwhile are the hikes to the traditional alpine huts, offering local delicacies and refreshments:

  • Coburgerhütte
  • Ehrwalderalm
  • Gaistalalm
  • Wangalm
  • Steinernes Hüttl
  • die Tillfussalm
  • Hämmermoosalm
  • Knorrhütte
  • Meilerhütte
  • Rauthhütte
  • Rotmoosalm
  • Hochfeldernalm

Whether for gentle walks or challenging mountain tours, the Gaistal offers unforgettable experiences for the whole family.

Explore the Alpine Charm of the Gaistal

Discover idyllic mountain meadows, crystal-clear alpine lakes, and rustic huts on your hikes through the Gaistal. Whether you prefer short, easy ascents or challenging hikes with via ferrata sections, the trails cater to both seasoned hikers and families alike.

The Gaistal is both the realm of traditional alpine pastures and a pristine, untamed mountain landscape. Dramatic cirques, lush high pastures, blooming meadows, and pale gray rock formations create a mesmerizing contrast. The green-turquoise waters of the Leutascher Ache, also known as Gaistalache, accompany hikers and mountain bikers through the valley all the way to Igelsee, where the Wildbach flows from the Breitenkopfkar. Along the way, encounter the region’s abundant wildlife, including deer, chamois, red deer, golden eagles, and, with a bit of luck, bearded vultures. The cheerful whistles of marmots, abundant between Rotmoosalm and Hochfelderalm, add a playful soundtrack to your adventure.
